Economic Calendar

Traders are returning to markets following a long Easter weekend. Apart from recent regular themes in the market, like monetary tightening and Russia’s war in Ukraine, traders will get some data to focus on in the week ahead. This includes flash PMIs from Europe as well as CPI data from Canada. Finally, traders will get some financial reports from well-known US tech companies. Today we will know financial results from Bank of America and Bank New York Mellon. Later this week, Netflix will show its results. Again, the focus will be on the number of subscribers, future developments and growing competitors.

Monday is usually rather empty in terms of macroeconomic readings. Additionally, European markets are still closed today. Nevertheless, the NAHB US housing market index will be released today and James Bullard from Fed will speak after the session on Wall Street. His comments are usually hawkish, but also he predicts the future rather well in terms of economic developments.

13:30 BST Canada, ADP employment change (previously: 475k)

15:00 BST US, Housing market indicator (expected: 77; previously: 79)

21:00 BST US, Bullard FOMC speech
