Dutch Business Morale Improves to 5-Month High
Business confidence in the Netherlands rose to -2.2 in August 2025 from -4.9 in the previous month. This marked the highest level since March and nearing its 20-year average of -1.3, mainly driven by improved optimism among industrial producers about future production (6.1 vs 4 in July). Additionally, sentiment was less pessimistic toward finished product stocks (-3.8 vs -7.3) and order books (-9.1 vs -11.4). Producer confidence was negative in almost all sectors. Only producers in other industries (including machinery repair and installation and the furniture industry) were positive in August. Producers in the paper and graphics industry were the most negative.
