Dutch Consumer Mood Stays at 5-Month High

The consumer confidence indicator in the Netherlands stood at -32 in August 2025, unchanged from July’s five-month high. Consumer assessments of the overall economic climate remained at a six-month high of -52. Willingness to spend held steady at its highest level in four months, at -19, while perceptions regarding the timing of major purchases remained stable at a three-month high of -34. Expectations for the next twelve months improved to a seven-month high, rising to -43 from -46. A similar trend was seen in expectations for personal finances over the same period, which also hit a seven-month peak at -4, up from -5. Meanwhile, household perceptions of their financial situation over the past twelve months weakened slightly, with the index falling to -18 from -17. Views on the overall economic situation during the same period also declined, slipping to -61 from -59.
