Dutch Jobless Rate Steady at 3.8%

The Netherlands’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.8% in May 2025, unchanged from the previous month. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 2,000 to 385,000, while employment rose to 9.833 million. The labor force participation rate also held steady at 76.1%. During the period, the number of unemployment benefits increased, with the largest rises seen in agriculture, landscaping, and fisheries (+7.3%); the food and luxury food industry (+7%); construction (+5.1%); government (+4.5%); and other commercial services (+3.6%). Compared to a year earlier, the jobless rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than the 3.6% recorded in May 2024.
