Eurozone Current Account Surplus Narrows in May

The Eurozone’s current account surplus narrowed to EUR 1 billion in May 2025 from EUR 7.3 billion a year earlier. The services surplus dropped to EUR 16.7 billion from EUR 22.2 billion, the primary income shortfall widened to EUR 34.8 billion from EUR 33.4 billion, and the secondary income deficit rose to EUR 11.9 billion from EUR 10.6 billion. On the other hand, the goods surplus rose to EUR 30.9 billion from EUR 29.1 billion. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the current account surplus rose to EUR 32.3 billion in May from EUR 18.6 billion in the previous month.
