Finnish Consumer Morale Weakens in August
Finnish consumer confidence slipped to -7.6 in August 2025 from -6.4 in July. The decline reflected still-weak household financial assessments (-0.2 vs -1 in July) despite a slight improvement, while views on Finland’s broader economic outlook (-17.1 vs -12.7) deteriorated further and remained highly uncertain. Additionally, the period was widely seen as unfavorable for purchasing durable goods, keeping spending intentions low (-14.6 vs -10.6). At the same time, expectations about the general unemployment trend (-29.3 vs -28.3) stayed pessimistic and the perceived risk of personal unemployment (-13.3 vs -12.8) )was high. On a slightly brighter note, views of households’ own financial situation showed some improvement (25.8 vs 25.9), and inflation expectations edged lower (4.8 vs 4.9).
