France Industrial Output Rises Most Since 2020
Industrial production in France surged by 3.8% month-over-month in June 2025, rebounding from an upwardly revised 0.7% decline in May and far exceeding market expectations of a 0.8% increase. This marked the strongest monthly growth in industrial activity since July 2020, driven primarily by a sharp rebound in manufacturing output, which rose 3.5% after falling 1.2% in May. Within the manufacturing sector, notable gains were seen in transport equipment production (+16.6% vs +0.3%) and coke and refined petroleum products (+21.2% vs -7.2%). Additionally, output growth accelerated in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, and waste management, which rose 5% compared to a 1.7% increase in the previous month. On a yearly basis, industrial output was down 0.4% in June. For the second quarter overall, industrial activity declined 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
