Hong Kong Inflation Slows to 1.4% in June

The annual inflation rate in Hong Kong eased to 1.4% in June 2025 from 1.9% in the previous month, marking the slowest pace in three months. The slowdown was primarily driven by softer price gains in housing (2.8% vs 2.9%), transport (1.9% vs 2.2%), miscellaneous services (1.0% vs 1.4%), and electricity, gas, and water (1.6% vs 19.7%), along with a steeper decline in durable goods prices (-2.5% vs -2.3%). The downward pressure was partially offset by faster price increases in food (0.7% vs 0.4%), alcoholic drinks and tobacco (1.4% vs 0.5%), and miscellaneous goods (1.3% vs 0.5%). Meanwhile, the decline in clothing and footwear prices moderated (-4.1% vs -5.3%). On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices remained flat in June, following a 0.3% drop in May.
