Indonesia Car Sales Drop 18.4% in July
Car sales in Indonesia fell 18.4% year-on-year to 60,552 units in July 2025, following a 22.6% drop in the previous month, according to the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). This marked the third consecutive monthly decline, underscoring mounting concerns in the country’s automotive sector. Despite the downturn, GAIKINDO still projects 2025 car sales at 750,000–900,000 units, above the 2024 estimate of 850,000, though it acknowledged the target may be revised lower amid a first-half sales slump. On a monthly basis, sales rose 4.8%, supported by the GIIAS 2025 auto show, which boosted purchasing power and demand. From January to July, cumulative sales totaled 435,390 units, 10.1% lower than in the same period last year.
