Taiwan Consumer Mood Rises for 1st Time in 5 Months

Taiwan’s consumer confidence index increased to 64.38 in July 2025, up from 63.7 in June, marking the first increase since February as two indicators strengthened. The latest reading improved from June’s figure, which had been the lowest since April 2024, with a sharp rise seen in perceptions of the timing for stock investment (29.11 vs 23.96 in June). A smaller increase was recorded in expectations for the price level over the next six months (32.74 vs 32.47). By contrast, the indicators declined for the domestic economic outlook (80.65 vs 81.11), followed by expectations for family financial conditions (76.65 vs 77.06), the timing of durable goods purchases (96.57 vs 96.88), and employment opportunities (70.53 vs 70.71).
