Thailand Greenlights Multi-Billion Baht Support for Rice Farmers
Thailand has approved a support framework for off-season rice farmers in 2025 to cushion the impact of weak global prices. The plan includes direct payments and loan guarantees, with THB 7.28 billion allocated for the 2025 off-season crop, expected to benefit about 861,000 farming households. For the 2025/2026 main-season crop, THB 37.9 billion will be provided. Additionally, the government endorsed a paddy price stabilization program for the 2025/2026 production year with a budget of THB 61.6 billion. Thailand, one of the world’s top rice producers and exporters after China and India, ranks fifth globally in land area dedicated to rice cultivation.
