Turkey Retail Sales Growth Slows in June
Retail sales in Turkey advanced by 14.7% year-on-year in June 2025, easing from a downwardly revised and fourteen-month high of 17.6% increase in the previous month. The slowdown was primarily driven by softer increases in sales of food, drinks and tobacco (10% vs 12.4% in May) and non-food products (19.1% vs 21.6%). Within the non-food sector, sales moderated for audio and video equipment, hardware, paints and glass, electrical household appliances, furniture, etc. (9.7% vs 13.1%), via mail orders and internet (6.9% vs 11.7%), and automotive fuel (4% vs 8.7%), while trade declined for textiles, clothing and footwear (-1.6% vs 11.3%). Meanwhile, sales increased further for pharmaceutical goods, medical and orthopedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles (18.7% vs 17.5%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity rose by 1.3% in June, following a 1.9% gain in the preceding period.
